Here is the answer I put over there:

"There is a kettlebell seminar on saturday morning, but there will be no kettlebells in the actual strongman contest sunday.

If there's time, we may be able to do a kettlebell lift for fun afterwards though - who knows.

If you want to come by, just introduce yourself and maybe we can hook that up. i'm sure there will be plenty of kb's there.

Dave has BIG kettlebells. I can't wait to try them!"

Like I said, currently, there is NOT one scheduled, but if there is time, we MAY be able to throw something together. At this point, anything is possible, so if you are interested, please come over and introduce yourself and we will see what we can put together. I'd be glad to bring it up to Dave, if there is interest in that.

-NAPALM-Jedd Johnson, CSCShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00041224965696982917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713612254593216238.post-72133411942675551652008-01-21T18:00:00.000-08:002008-01-21T18:07:21.692-08:00POWERFEST - This WeekendThis Sunday is the big day!

Who is going to step up?

What numbers have you been hitting on the events?

Log?
Farmer's Hold?
Axle Deadlift?
Sandbag Walk?
Truck Pull?

Remember, consistency throughout all the events is what will get you the overall prize money of $250! By all means, try to win each one for the total $450, but don't get down on yourself if you screw up one event. We'll be using conventional strongman scoring, so the first place finisher in event one will start out with 1 point, second - 2, third - 3, and so on. Keep finishing near the top and you will have nothing to worry about.

If this is your first Strongman contest, take the whole rest of this week off. You will need to be as rested as possible for the event. Extra workouts will not do much for you less than 7 days from a contest. Stretch, get a massage, work the foam roller to get the adhesions out, but stay the hell out of the weight room so you are 100% on game day.

If you have any questions, email me, or call the Diesel Hotline - 607.857.6997!

-NAPALM-Jedd Johnson, CSCShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00041224965696982917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713612254593216238.post-77160065133901482222007-12-13T17:51:00.000-08:002007-12-29T15:15:28.674-08:00More PowerFest Strongman Questions
1. In the press event at PowerFest, we will be using a 12-inch log. The handles are about 1.5 inches thick and they are powder coated.

If you do not have a log to train on, you can use a bar or axle, but understand that because of the girth of the log, you must arch back more with the log racked. So you should load your bar or axle up heavy for the press in your training.

Also, work on front squats and heavy partial front squats. After all that is the motion you use in the dip portion of the log press.

See you at PowerFest.

-NAPALM-Jedd Johnson, CSCShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00041224965696982917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713612254593216238.post-46540913708508027642007-12-11T16:53:00.000-08:002007-12-11T16:57:49.203-08:00Answers to some questionsSeveral have asked what the weight will be for the farmers at the Powerfest Diesel Strongman Contest.

The Farmers are going to be in the neighborhood of 150 lbs. The handle is 1.5 inches thick and they rotate, so don't underestimate them. The farmers were fabricated from old pieces of a printing press and look like brake rotors on the ends. I'll try to get a picture up, if it becomes available.

Also, I have some information on the Truck pull. There will be one truck that is pulled and another that is stationary, to use for rigging the hand pull rope to. They will be full size pick-ups. Train hard and make it a speed event.

As always, let me know if there are any other questions.

-NAPALM-Jedd Johnson, CSCShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00041224965696982917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713612254593216238.post-89148505785022631682007-11-26T16:54:00.000-08:002007-11-26T17:00:17.141-08:00More PowerFest QuestionsIt has come to my attention that the entry forms say that we are going to be pressing an axle. We have competed at both styles of contests in the past and we wanted to make this more of a regional pride competition. While you will not qualify for National competition, the level of the events are certainly demanding and you can be proud of being the champion of this contest, for sure. We also did not want to mess with weight classes. Screw it! Let's throw everyone in there together and watch everyone fight it out until the end! Come and take the cash guys! $200 for first overall and $50 for first in each event.

What is the weight of the sandbag?

The weight is 200 pounds. People are going to be huffing and puffing around. remember, this is a front carry, so make sure you train the event correctly. Nothing can be worse than improper preparation in training. Practicing by shouldering it and then sprinting will get you nowhere on comp day. You must carry it in a bear hug position or zercher style!

Will the axle be Double Overhand (Double Pronated grip?

As much as I love the Double Overhand Axle Deadlift, that is more of a Grip-limiting exercise that should be saved for Grip contests. So the answer is no. You can take a mixed grip on this. We want to see lots of reps, so start training for endurance!

Is it indoors or outdoors?

Definitely indoors! Dave has a great venue lined up for this - an indoor field hockey rink, if I remember correctly, with booths all around the perimiter and a track going around too! So, it's going to be great for all events, especially the truck pull and the sandbag carry.

Will the Axle be normal height or closer to 18 inches?

Great question. Right now, we are planning for it to be normal height. We do not have any equipment that will allow us to contest it at a different height.

Guys, if you have any other questions, feel free to post here or email us. We will be glad to answer your questions. If this is your first contest, please train safely. This is a good contest to start off with because the entry fee is low and there will be plenty of opportunity to win cash right off the bat.

Come and take the title!

-NAPALM-Jedd Johnson, CSCShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00041224965696982917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6713612254593216238.post-54063252016938304692007-10-30T19:01:00.000-07:002007-10-31T17:29:35.336-07:00Contest Entry FormsMany athletes are asking about the entry forms for this contest.
